Due to recent recognition confirmation provided by the German Kultusministerkonferenz (KMK), students are now eligible to apply for university admission with their May 2020 DP Diplomas.
On 6 May 2020 the KMK announced that the May 2020 IB Diploma holders are now entitled to apply for university admission without undertaking final examinations.
With adapting to current circumstances around the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, the KMK has provided an official letter to the International Baccalaureate (IB) confirming that the KMK now recognizes the DP Diplomas issued in May 2020 as authorization for university admission, on condition that these terms apply in addition to the recently updated Agreement of the Recognition of the IB Diploma.
The KMK showed gratitude to the IB for how transparent they have been during this time of uncertainty, in particular with providing detailed information regarding the calculation of the grades. With the IB providing clarity in articulating this grading process, it has helped the KMK with the decision making for the recognition.
The recognition is granted for the university admissions for winter semester 2020 and it will be automatically extended in case there will be no statistical deviations of student final grades, in comparison to student grades from the past 3 years of examinations.
