The International Baccalaureate (IB) is excited to launch Generation Global, a portfolio of youth initiatives that broadens access to opportunities for young people to connect across cultures, develop essential capabilities, and take action on issues that matter to them. Bringing together existing IB initiatives under one identity, Generation Global strengthens the organization’s commitment to youth voice, community, and meaningful action towards creating a better, more peaceful world.

The portfolio brings together Festival of Hope, Dialogue Exchange, the Global Youth Action Fund, the IB Youth Advisory Council, IBlieve and the IB’s alumni community. Together, these initiatives offer young people everywhere opportunities to engage in dialogue across borders and beliefs, learn from their peers, and lead projects in their local communities. Students who study an IB programme can also maintain a stronger connection with the organization beyond school.

Generation Global will build on the existing reach and impact of these initiatives. Dialogue Exchange engages around 60,000 young people each year through opportunities to develop intercultural dialogue. Since its launch in 2022, Festival of Hope has engaged more than 12,000 young people across 90 countries, creating opportunities for youth voice and action. Through the Global Youth Action Fund, young people aged 12–19 receive grants to develop initiatives that create positive social impact in their communities, with the 2025 fund supporting 110 projects that reached more than 100,000 direct beneficiaries.

At the heart of Generation Global is the conviction that young people are partners in shaping their communities and the world around them. The portfolio supports young people in building capabilities such as intercultural dialogue, empathy, critical judgement and collaboration, while creating spaces to question, reflect, learn together and turn ideas into action. These opportunities are open to young people both within and beyond IB World Schools, broadening access to the IB community and its mission.

Through Generation Global, the IB aims to strengthen these connections and create pathways for young people to contribute throughout their lives. The portfolio will continue to develop in the lead-up to its official launch in Mexico City in May 2027, building opportunities for participation, partnership and investment in youth-led learning and action.
