The IB is partnering with National Taiwan Normal University to host the IBEC Conference in Taipei, Taiwan, 15–17 August 2025.

University leaders, faculty, researchers and IB staff will attend the conference around the theme of Empowering educators to thrive in a changing world. This conference is specifically focused on building community, collaboration and information-sharing among universities that offer the IB Educator Certificates (IBEC).
National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) is one of the 55+ universities globally that offer IBEC, a programme through which the IB partners with universities to align their teaching degree programmes to the IB mission and pedagogy. Graduates of these degree programmes are eligible to register for the formal certificate from the IB.
The IB is re-establishing these IBEC-specific conferences and aims to hold them every other year. There was an IBEC Conference planned for 2020, which was cancelled as a result of the pandemic, and previous conferences were held at University of Bath (2018) and at Kent State University (2016).
What to expect at the conference
Conference sessions will share research, best practices and innovative ideas focused on equipping educators to navigate an increasingly complex educational landscape. The conference also will include remarks from NTNU President Cheng-Chih Wu and IB Chief Schools Officer Nicole Bien, as well as keynotes from:
