The International Baccalaureate was thrilled to participate in the 17th Turkish IB Day in Istanbul last weekend. This event, hosted by ISTEK Schools at Yeditepe University, brought together educators, students, and school leaders who share a common passion for shaping the future of education.
Dr Nicole Bien, IB’s Chief Schools Officer, along with IB representatives, led an inspirational presentation under the theme “Education in Times of Change,” delving into the dynamic landscape of education. The session explored diverse topics, emerging trends and global challenges, such as impacts on student wellbeing, the intersection of AI and the future of teaching and learning, while highlighting different ways the IB is continuously evolving to meet the needs of current and future generations.
Attendees had the opportunity to take part in breakout sessions aimed at refining professional development, understanding the IB continuum of programmes and how to expand its implementation within Turkish educational institutions and beyond.
The Turkish IB Day, which originated in 1999 at Eyüboğlu College, has evolved into a biennial event, attracting educators from across the country and other regions. This year’s event welcomed more than 1,700 attendees, marking a significant milestone following the virtual event in 2021.
