A member of the International Baccalaureate® (IB) Board of Governors, Atalanti Moquette works personally with IB Diploma Programme (DP) students as an extended essay supervisor in the visual arts.
She admires the IB’s mission to integrate values of respect for all and inspire peace, innovation and creativity through its educational programmes. Atalanti’s three children have been educated in the IB system.
Atalanti has been teaching art history in Geneva for the last ten years. In 2009, she co-founded the Giving Women network. The network brings together women involved in philanthropy, pooling their time, knowledge, professional experience, finances and ideas in order to be more informed and effective givers.
Giving Women supports projects directed at women and/or founded by women. As a philanthropist and volunteer, Atalanti has held various positions. She was Vice President of the Board of the International School of Geneva for four years and a member of the executive board of the Fondation Philanthropique Orthodoxe.
She is also a:
- founder and member of the Executive Committee of Human Rights Watch, Geneva
- founding member of GenevaWISE, an association which provides bursaries for young professionals or graduates from developing countries
- member of FOTIS, an association which provides bursaries for children in the developing world, allowing them to complete their secondary education.
Atalanti holds a BA in Philosophy and Ancient Greek from King’s College, London, and completed postgraduate studies in Art History at the University of Toronto. She has worked with several galleries in Toronto and was a researcher for the Art Gallery of Ontario.
