The IB Student Innovators platform and grant is an opportunity for Middle Years Programme (MYP) students to build vital skills to become the socially conscious leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs the world needs today.

The MYP innovator project is also supported by Ashoka, an organization that supports young changemakers, building on 40 years of identifying and supporting the world’s leading social entrepreneurs. The IB and Ashoka both see that in our rapidly changing world, the capacity to adapt and make change is a critical skill in growing up.

The finalists selected as MYP innovators represent 21 IB World Schools in 13 countries and are eligible to receive a grant funds of more than $145,000 combined. Through the platform and grant, finalists will be encouraged to collaborate with student finalists and receive guidance from a career-level or industry expert.

The student projects were selected after a competitive two-stage application and review process supported by a global review panel composed of 48 IB educators and IB programme alumni. The application was designed to give students the opportunity to exercise advocacy for their own ideas, consider the social impact of their project, explore their personal connection to the initiative and delve into the financial needs of starting or growing a social change initiative. Our review panel took all applications into consideration and provided more than 300 pieces of individual feedback to all participating student to help strengthen their future projects.

We would like to congratulate all finalists nominated from the following IB World Schools. Student projects will be announced on the MYP Student Innovators page on our public website later in July 2020.

First announced in October 2019, the project initiative grew from previous MYP students who took innovative ideas developed through their MYP community and personal projects, that led them to create social enterprises later in their education and lives.

We would like to thank IB World Schools and students who participated for their commitment to becoming a changemaker and for joining us in our mission to create a better world through education. We encourage all of our IB students to continue making positive impacts on their community and environment.

Please note: we will be releasing the list of MYP student innovator finalists and their projects on our public website soon.
