Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI)

In collaboration with the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), the IB offers UK students a new, structured, route into the finance sector through the IB Career-related Programme (CP).

Each of the CP pathways combines a career-related qualification (in this case a CISI Diploma qualification in Finance, Risk & Investment), with at least two IB Diploma Programme (DP) courses and a unique CP core, consisting of a reflective project, a foreign language, a community project and personal and professional skills.

The courses from the CISI Diploma can be used as the career-related study component portion of the CP as long as these three requirements are met:

  1. Students must take at least two IB academic courses
  2. Students must complete the CP core
  3. Students must complete the approved CISI Diploma in Finance, Risk and Investment

Available in: UK and Europe. Assessment delivery may vary depending upon the school’s location/country.

Career pathway: Finance/Investment/Operations

Duration: Within the two-year timeline of the CP (last two years of secondary school).

Possible IB academic courses to choose from:

  • Mathematics (SL)
  • Information Technology in a Global Society (SL or HL)
  • A third Diploma subject chosen from one of the following groups:
    • Studies in Language and Literature
    • Individuals and Societies
    • Language Acquisition

Dr Peter Fidczuk, UK Recognition and Development Manager, International Baccalaureate, said: “The new package enables students to achieve a maximum of 200 revised UCAS points, while also gaining valuable personal and interpersonal skills, helping students to secure university places, apprenticeships or jobs in the finance industry.
