Getting there by plane: Helsinki Airport or Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is the primary airport serving Helsinki, Finland. It is located 17.0 km or 10.6 mi north of Helsinki city center.
Transportation: Regular taxis to the center cost €30-40. A new ring rail connection to Helsinki opened in July 2015. The trains run in a loop, with I-trains going east and P-trains going west from the airport. The trip takes approximately 30 minutes. The trains run every ten minutes during peak hours.
Central Helsinki is rather compact and can be explored by foot by energetic visitors. All public transportation within Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen is coordinated by HSL. The Single ticket (€3,20 from the driver) allows you to travel by almost any local public transportation method (buses, trains, trams, metro, Suomenlinna ferry) within the boundaries of Helsinki. Cab fares are regulated by the government, and the taxi fares are reviewed yearly.
