The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing high-quality educational programs. This page summarizes key details about the types of fees and services associated with becoming and operating as an IB World School.

Types of Schools

  1. Authorized IB World Schools
    • These schools pay an annual fee in exchange for services that support the implementation and maintenance of IB programs.
  1. Candidate and interested schools
    • Schools in the process of becoming authorized pay fees to cover the authorization process, which includes a variety of services including applications, feedback reports, consultant support, and site visits. Payments are made in the currency assigned during the application process.

Becoming an IB World School

  1. Application for candidacy
    • Schools applying for candidacy must pay an application fee to initiate the process. This fee covers support from IB personnel, review of applications, and guidance from development departments.
  1. Candidacy fees

Once a school has been awarded candidacy, a candidacy and consultation services fee will be charged to the school on the first of the month following the granting of candidacy. This fee will be billed yearly until the school notifies the IB it would like to apply for authorization.

The candidacy and consultation services fee covers the cost of an IB consultant, 20 remote hours of consultation support per year, one 2-day consultation visit per candidacy, a consultant visit report, an end of consultancy report, access to the IB's Programme Resource Centre, and direct support from the authorization department via the school’s programme relationship manager.

The candidacy and consultation services fee is non-refundable.

The candidacy and application for authorization services fee will be billed yearly until the school is authorized. The candidacy and consultation services fee will no longer be charged.

This fee covers the cost of processing, reviewing, and reporting on the application for authorization, one 2-day verification visit per candidacy, a verification visit report, final authorization of the school, access to the IB's Programme Resource Centre, and direct support from the authorization department via the school’s programme relationship manager.
