About the IB Ombudsman

The IB Ombudsman is Ms. Indumati Sen.

Ms. Sen is a Certified Organizational Ombudsman Practitioner under the Certification Board of the International Ombudsman Association (IOA).

Ms. Sen joined the IB as its Ombudsman in January of 2011. She leads the Office of the Ombudsman, serving the IB global community in the AP, AEM, and Americas regions. As Ombudsman, Ms. Sen provides assistance to both internal and external stakeholders. Ms. Sen and her role were featured in the IB World magazine for May, 2011.

Prior to the IB, Ms. Sen served as the Director of the Office of the Ombudsman and University Ombudsman at the University of California, Riverside. Ms. Sen continues to be active with the field of ombudsmanry, and has been a member of the International Ombudsman Association (IOA) since 2007. She currently serves on the IOA Board of Directors and two committees: (a) International, and (2) Legal and Legislative Affairs. For the International Committee, Ms. Sen is the coordinator for the Regional Advisory Committee for the Asia Pacific region.

Ms. Sen is also an experienced mediator and negotiator, ADR process designer and trainer in the larger alternative dispute resolution field, including working with international organizations dedicated to informal dispute resolution and community dialogue. She is also interested in exploring technology-based or assisted processes to enhance access to fair dispute resolution processes, specifically in under-served regions.

Ms. Sen earned her LL.M. (Master of Laws) from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University with a concentration in International Dispute Resolution in 2008. She is an attorney with practice experience in employment, labor and education law, and received her Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2000.
