Head of Professional Development Asia Pacific

Stuart worked in international education for 17 years prior to joining the IB. Stuart’s role in Professional Development looks at the overall provision of all types of IB workshops in the region (in-school, regional, provider, partner/cluster events), communicating with co-ordinators, workshop leaders, schools and providers to ensure that we are meeting the needs of the IB community.

Professional Development Manager, Asia Pacific

As the Professional Development Manager, Melissa is responsible for supporting the professional growth of teachers and administrators by ensuring that schools are provided with a variety of high-quality IB workshops across all sub-regions in the Asia-Pacific. Working primarily with school coordinators and workshop leaders, Melissa supports their information and registration needs in the workshop selection and delivery processes.

Melissa joined the International Baccalaureate Organization as the Professional Development Manager at the end of August 2013. Prior to joining the IB, Melissa held various positions as an independent consultant, program manager for the public service in British Columbia, facilitator, and IB and public school teacher. She holds a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA), as well as Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts (English and History) degrees.

Catherine Vogel

Manager, Network Support

Responsible for supporting Networks in the Asia Pacific region in order to help the networks meet their needs for Professional Development, School Services and Development. Organising the biannual visits, workshop events and providing PD information to the networks are key parts the role. 

Catherine has worked in the advertising, media and marketing industries across a broad range of products and services for many years, specializing in brand strategy. Immediately prior to joining the IB, Catherine was a Board Member of an IB School in Switzerland, heading the Education Committee. She has a Master of Arts degree, is qualified by the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a presentation skills trainer. She has also participated in Mentoring programmes as a trained Mentor.

Professional Development Services Associate

As the Professional Development Associate, Jaya is the region’s super user for the Event Management System (currently Regis). She is responsible for creating events on Regis and works with coordinators to ensure smooth registration of workshops. Jaya also handles all aspects of In-School Workshop services and supports coordinators and workshop leaders in the region.

Jaya joined the IB in Sep 2011 as the PD/IBEN Associate and then moved over to join the Professional Development team in April 2013. Prior to joining the IB, Jaya has held various positions in the Singapore Civil Service and has more than 17 years of experience in the administrative sector. She holds the Bachelor of English Language and Literature (Hons) and Specialist Diploma in Teaching of English Language.

Kelly Ng

Events Associate

Kelly is a graduate of Temasek Polytechnic (Hospitality Management) and Southern Cross University (Bachelor of Business in Conventions & Event Management) with more than ten years of experience in sales, operations and events management. Earlier in her career she worked for venue providers such as The Legends Fort Canning Park and Downtown East and also professional conference organizers such as Terrapinn and Ageing Asia where she was the experience and operations manager respectively.

She plans, manage and deliver all conferences and exhibitions taking place both in Singapore and Asia Pacific. Kelly is now part of the PD Events team as an Events Associate executing and delivering IBAP Regional workshops. She is responsible for pre-event planning, onsite management and post-event evaluation for all events in Singapore and around the Asia Pacific region.

IB Educator Network Manager, Asia Pacific

Gillian joined the International Baccalaureate organization as IBEN Manager in 2013. Gill is responsible for the IB Educator Network. From selection of workshop leaders to training, to workshop leader allocation.

IBEN Associate

Responsible for assisting Gillian and is responsible for facilitating the IBEN events, communicating with the IB educators about staffing, training educators and handling the IBEN databases.
