New York University has established a campus in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and its Opportunities Program (OP) invites applications for full-time, non-tenure track position to teach Theory of Knowledge to academically outstanding students from the UAE. Theory of Knowledge is an International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum that will be structured to address gaps in background knowledge of OP students.

Appointments are for one year and subject to renewal. Instructors teach four sections (or their equivalent) of courses over the academic year, work directly with OP students, and participate in program activities. Applicants should have a minimum of two years of experience teaching Theory of Knowledge in a secondary school or in a college or university and/or be certified to teach. Applicants must have an advanced degree; PhD is preferred. NYUAD is looking for creative individuals who are flexible, outgoing, open to new environments, and respectful of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.

Instructors will attend orientation in August, will participate in regular professional development workshops throughout the academic year, and are encouraged to participate actively in the intellectual life of NYUAD.

NYUAD has recruited faculty of international distinction committed to active research and the finest teaching, to building a pioneering global institution of the highest quality, and to forging an international community of scholars and students. Situated at a new global crossroads, NYUAD has the resources and resolve to become a preeminent center of collaborative intellectual pursuit and impact.

NYU New York and NYUAD are integrally connected. The faculties work together, and the campuses form the foundation of a unique global network university, linked to NYU’s other study and research sites on five continents.

Major research projects and public programs are underway, and the first class of students of remarkable potential from across the world arrived in Fall 2010. The international character of NYUAD is reflected in the global composition of the faculty and the student body as well as the research agenda and curriculum, which have been designed to promote inventiveness, intellectual curiosity, multidisciplinary interest, and intercultural understanding.

Review of applications will begin immediately for Fall 2012 appointments and continue until positions are filled. Applications should include: a cover letter that explains your interest in teaching Theory of Knowledge in Abu Dhabi and specific qualities you will bring to the Opportunities Program; statement of teaching philosophy; and current CV.
