Middle Years Programme
A unique opportunity exists as the IGB International School (IGBIS) conducts its search for two Founding Principals, for the Junior School and the Senior School respectively. Located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the school will be a day school, aspires to be a 4-Programme IB World School and already has IB Diploma Candidate Status.The first intake of students in the Junior School (Grades K-5) is planned for January 2014, and the Senior Grades (6-11) for August, 2014.The traditional focus on academic excellence will be strengthened by a structured programme enhancing social and emotional confidence, service learning and will reflect the inclusiveness of the school's mission. There will be a focus on sports, the arts and outdoor education.
A core belief is that the school has a responsibility to educate for a sustainable future for all. An education of excellence will be supported by outstanding facilities; well-conceived classrooms, laboratories, cafeterias, libraries, a 540-seat theatre, music rooms, dance studios, visual art rooms, technology workshops, a very large indoor air-conditioned gym, a 50m and 25m pool, artifical turf football field, tartan track, tennis courts, and a fitness centre. The Junior School and Senior School Principals should be experienced, enthusiastic and successful school leaders, with the appropriate tertiary qualifications and have proven stamina, passion, commitment and sense of humour.The Principals should also have strong interpersonal and team building skills together with the ability to manage their sections of the school from its inception in a fiscally prudent mannerand through a period of development and expansion. In this context, the Principals must have extensive experience with IB (the JS Principal with the PYP, the SS Principal with the MYP, expereince with the IGCSE also helpful, and Diploma) and embody the spirit of both the IB and the spirit of inclusiveness which underlie the school's Vision and Mission.
There is an attractive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position, including appropriate home leave, contribution to an agreed superannuation fund, housing assistance, free education for children attending IGBIS, hospital, medical and disability insurance and sick leave. The Principals are appointed by and directly responsible to the Head of School.
