LETTER FROM HEAD OF SCHOOL

Interested educators,

Lake Wales High School is looking for highly idealistic educators with a global perspective, who are exemplary instructors. As we build this educational community, we are seeking staff members who are curious and determined to make a difference. The candidate needs to have the energy and desire to transform the lives of students in this Central Florida town. LW Charter is poised to have an impact on this community and beyond.

Our community is diverse, with students representing many ethnic backgrounds and spanning all socio-economic levels. We are a Title One school with 65% participating in the federal school lunch program. We are in the first phase of a plan to offer an excellent education to many students who have been disenfranchised in the past.

In 2011-12, we began the transformation by working on the culture and climate. Thus far, the students have exceeded expectations and continue to help this amazing faculty rebuild this school.

To continue this work, we need teachers who excel in this profession. We must have high quality instructors to accomplish our goals. We promise you a vibrant and collegial environment.

The HS is part of Lake Wales Charter System and has been able to garner private funding to support our effort. Recently, LWHS received 1.3 million to enable the high school to implement a 1:1 iPad program.

We are deeply serious about the transformation of this high school and hope to attract educators who are seeking a vibrant community, and one that is on the leading edge of education reform.

Please research our system and specifically Lake Wales High School.

Come have fun and change the world,

Donna Dunson
Principal, LWHS
