Glenunga IHS has a strong history of academic success, confirmed by IB diploma results in the highest range. Chinese and English are offered as languages A1. We also assist students whose first language is not English to locate a tutor so that they can maintain their mother tongue proficiency in an A1 language. French, German, Chinese and Japanese form a balanced menu of European and Asian languages for languages B, with Indonesian offered ab initio. Language tuition, including tutoring for self-taught language students, is offered in conjunction with the Adelaide School of Languages.
Such has been the success of the IB programmes at our school that the state government is supporting other public schools to begin the authorization process. Although financial resources remain limited compared to those of private institutions, rising student numbers have attracted increased government funding to our school. Within the last six years we have opened new technology and science wing extensions, as well as an administration block, a performing arts centre, an extended gymnasium and a centre for senior students. The recent history of Glenunga IHS confirms our school motto: Labor Omnia Vincit (Work Conquers All).
