Professional development

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is committed to supporting the ongoing development of a worldwide professional learning community comprising internationally minded teachers, school leaders and school administrators. To that end all four regional offices conduct comprehensive annual programmes of workshops and conferences designed to help teachers and schools to better understand and deliver the three IB programmes (see workshops calendar and online workshops). Through the provision of a wide variety of resources and development opportunities IB educators are challenged to constantly reflect upon and improve their practice.

To maximize the benefit of this provision, the IB has established the professional development division (PDD) at its Curriculum and Assessment Centre (IBCA) in Cardiff. Its role is to formulate and coordinate an organization-wide PD strategy that is clearly focused on and aligned with the overall mission and strategic goals of the organization.
