When to complete this form

There are three major stages in the process of becoming an authorized IB school:

  1. Feasibility study (including familiarization with the programme and identification of resources)
  2. Candidate status (acceptance of application form Part A)
  3. Authorization visit by an IB visiting team (acceptance of application form Part B)

The time between these stages can vary widely. For example, moving from part A to part B candidate status is at least one year and often two or three years.

The 'interested school' form should be completed by schools who intend to undertake the feasibility study. This should then be sent to the regional office for your area of the world:

Please note

The submission of this form

  • does not mean that the IB has agreed to collaborate with the school (that occurs at the stage when the application part A is accepted and the school has candidate status)
  • gives no guarantee that candidate status, and, eventually, authorization will be granted.
