Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education

In collaboration with the Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education (CACHE), the IB offers students a new, structured, route into Childcare and Education as well as Health and Social Care through the IB Career-related Programme (CP).

Each of the CP pathways combines a career-related qualification (either a Level 3 Award and Technical Level 3 Certificate and Technical Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator) or a Level 3 Award and Technical Level 3 Certificate and Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care), with at least two IB Diploma Programme (DP) courses and a unique CP core, consisting of a reflective project, a second language, service learning and a personal and professional skills course.

 

Level 3 Award and Technical Level 3 Certificate and Technical Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator) 

The Diploma enables learners to gain the knowledge and experience which will allow them to work with children from birth to 5 years.

Employment progression routes for this qualification:

Upon achievement of the Technical Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education it is intended that learners will be able to access higher education or enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. Learners can progress into various job roles in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors such as:

  • Early Years Educator
  • Practitioner in day nurseries and kindergartens
  • Practitioner in nursery schools
  • Practitioner in reception classes in primary schools
  • Pre-school worker
  • Nanny

Following this qualification learners who have entered the workforce can progress to the CACHE Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner (Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner  ) While in employment early years practitioners can also train to become assessors and internal quality assurers, this can lead to work in colleges in the UK and training centres specialising in early years.

 

Level 3 Award and Technical Level 3 Certificate and Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care

This diploma is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills needed to work with some of society’s most vulnerable people, including the elderly, children and adults with learning difficulties.

Employment progression routes:

Achievement of the Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care supports learners’ access to Higher Education and progression into a wide range of job roles within the health and social care sector.

 

Including teaching, social work, nursing, health sciences and midwifery within:

  • Residential Care Homes
  • Children's Centres
  • Health Centres
  • Residential Schools
  • Specialised Voluntary Groups

 

Management progression opportunities:

The following completion of the Level 3 in early years or health and social care the CACHE Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services provides the skills and knowledge needed to manage practice and lead others in adult health and social care provision or in children, young people’s services and nursery and kindergarten management
