South Asia

It was an important day for the 74 students who were chosen from Pathways World School (Delhi) to meet the President of India, A.P.J Abdul Kalam. The students reached  Rashtrapati Bhavan at 2:00 pm. The principal Mrs Prabhu spoke about Pathways World School and then the President outlined his vision for India in the coming years.

Pathways School meeting the Indian President

He told the students that everyone should dream as dreams lead to thoughts and thoughts lead to action. He also said that the government would try and increase the GDP rate from 7% to 10%, therefore elevating the 260 million people from below the poverty line. When someone asked him a question on what his goal was he replied that his aim was to see the billion people in India smile. He then spoke about how he was influenced by his teacher. He also said that he wanted India to be a place free of corruption and he said it is the youth of today that could make this happen.

We would like to thank the American Embassy School in New Delhi for hosting the Diploma workshops from 18 - 20 February 2006.
