Regional Heads Representative Committee

By the time you read this, we will be well into 2006 but let me wish you Happy New Year in any case. At the same time, for those of you in China and those of you who celebrate the Spring Festival outside China, let me welcome you to the year of the Dog.

As you know, the results of the elections to the RHRC have been published. Please join me in welcoming three members, Rod Fraser, working in Australia; Ian Kerr, working in Malaysia and Iain Stirling, working in China. All three already have experience in the RHRC and plan to continue and develop its influence and expertise.

I hope you have had the opportunity to read the minutes of last RHRC meeting before the HSA conference in Bangkok. If you have concerns or questions which you would like us to follow up for our next meeting in Geneva on Friday, April 28, 2006, please contact me or one of the RHRC members listed below.

I know you will join me in welcoming Jeff Beard to our region. He took over as Director General on January 1, 2006 and will continue to work with George Walker until George formally leaves the IB after the governance meetings in Geneva in April 2006. Jeff has already visited our region, spent time in the Regional Office in Singapore with Judith Guy, Regional Director, are her staff. I am certain that he will be very much involved in developing the tremendous growth opportunities in our region.

Let me encourage you, when time permits, to keep up to date with the minutes of RAC, IHRC and Council of Foundation, meetings and information which appears on the IB’s website. We, as RHRC members would greatly appreciate your input, your agenda items and your reactions. We look forward to hearing from you as we plan the agenda for our April meeting.
