IB Asia Pacific Newsletter
January - March 2006
Professional Development
We at IB Asia-Pacific Events would like to convey our appreciation to the IB School community for being so supportive of our efforts to provide continuous quality workshops and conferences. We are also very grateful for your patience and endorsement of the changes we have been implementing over the year as we strive to improve our services and support.
To continue our dynamic growth and to provide an exciting and elegant participant experience, we have lined up a series of events this year which we hope you will enjoy.
These workshops are currently available for registrations online:
- St Paul's Grammar School, Sydney, Australia (10% late charge)
- Overseas School of Colombo, Sri Lanka (10% late charge)
- Somerset College, Gold Coast, Australia
Sign up for these workshops early to avoid disappointment and, as usual, please provide proof of payment to validate your registrations.
Global Convention on Language Issues and Bilingual Education
The inaugural Global Language Convention 2006 will be held in Singapore from 8 - 10 April 2006. Organized by IBAP, the focus of the event will be on Language Policies and Practice. The Convention will address issues such as:
1. Second language and Additional language Teaching Models
2. Fostering Additive Language Acquisition
3. Mother tongue maintenance/support
The Global Language Convention offers educators and teachers a unique opportunity to interact with their peers through breakout sessions, workshops, networking, job-alike sessions and plenary lectures by distinguished speakers. This event will bring together specialists, educators and language experts, vendors and sponsors in a professional and focused environment.
There will also be a “Networking Night Out!” for those who would like to mingle with fellow participants and get to know each other better in an informal setting. Take the opportunity to explore Singapore and have an adventure with the creatures-of-the-night at the Night Safari, or take a cruise and dine at the ancient and historic Imperial Cheng Ho Chinese junk, or hop on the double-decker Hippo Bus for a moonlight tour of Singapore.
Online registration begins 15 January 2006. Register by Tuesday, 28 February 2006 to enjoy early bird prices. Please visit http://www.ibo.org/ibap/conferences for more information and to download the brochure.
IB Asia-Pacific Events Registrations Go Online!
You have helped us with your loyalty and support and in return, we are giving back by starting a new online registration system. This will certainly ease confusion and questions with workshops capacity, payment, and confirmation of places. Online registration is now available for the Global Language Convention and we are currently working on workshops which start from July onwards. Here are six simple steps to online registration:
