Mathematics teacher inspires student film
We invited IB students to create a short film to show how their teachers make a lasting impact on their lives.
We are delighted to announce Nancy Leal Garza from Liceo de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico as the winner of the ‘Be Inspired’ competition for her film about her mathematics teacher, Ms Nidia.

IB Director General, Siva Kumari said: “We launched the competition to celebrate and honour the thousands of IB teachers and coordinators who inspire IB students every day and themselves exhibit many of the IB Learner Profile attributes. Thanks to all the students who participated, and congratulations to Nancy for her humorous and heartwarming recognition of her mathematics teacher.”
Entries from Diploma (DP) and Career-related (CP) Programme students from 17 number of countries illustrated great creativity in their profiling of the IB teachers and coordinators who inspire them. On hearing the news Nancy said: “I am very pleased that it may make many IB teachers feel like they, too, make such a positive impression on their students”.
Nancy has won a complimentary registration to one of the 2017 IB World Student Conferences and her video will feature at many 2017 IB professional development events around the world.
