An assessment author is responsible for producing the content of an IB assessment.
Assessments can include:
- Pre-release materials
- Prescribed essay titles
- Partially completed unit planners
The assessments are produced according to set guidelines.
Assessment authors may work alone or with other authors dependent on the subject, component and other related factors.
When producing the content of the assessment, assessment authors may be asked to produce original content, review and revise potential content submitted by others or to translate content into target languages.
Assessment authors need to participate in meetings during the assessment production process, these meetings can take place virtually or physically. Compliance with deadlines is vital, to ensure that assessments are produced to a high quality.
Assessment authors are paid individually for the tasks they complete and for participation in meetings. The rate of fees is dependent on the subject and component.
