In the 4 days between 19 - 22 September in Mumbai, there will be more IB Professional Development choices than ever before at one event. The IB has joined together with the Mumbai network to put on a MELA – a Festival of IB workshops that cover topics from Governance and Academic Honesty  to a Community Forum where we will answer questions from teachers, parents and community leaders.  With an array of workshops to meet the needs of Indian schools at this time of the year......there will be something for everyone. This is an invitation to please join in.

These 4 sessions look closely at the IB pedagogy as outlined in recent IB publications to further support the implementation of IB programmes from philosophy into practice:

Session 1:   What is an IB education?

This session looks at the essence of the continuum of IB programmes.  It aims to suggest activities that schools can use to help parents understand teaching and learning in the IB, global contexts for learning and the importance of significant content particularly in the context of IGCSE vs. IB debate.

Session 2:  APPROACHES TO LEARNING

This session looks at teaching and assessing the Approaches to Learning: Research, Thinking, Communication, Self-management and Social Skills

Publication: Approaches to Teaching and Learning across the Diploma Programme (2012), MYP Next Chapter (ATL), Making the PYP Happen (2010)

Session 3:   Meeting Student Learning Diversity in IB Programmes

This session looks at differentiating to meet the needs of all learners in a classroom, including those with special needs/gifted & talented.

Session 4:   Approaches to Teaching: CONCEPTS AND INQUIRY

This session addresses sustained, concept-based inquiry which forms the centrepiece of the written, taught and assessed curriculum in all IB programmes.
