More about this region
The IB Africa, Europe and Middle East (IBAEM) regional office first opened in London in 1978. In 1986 a regional office, with responsibility for the whole of Europe, was established in Geneva leaving responsibility for Africa and the Middle East in the UK office.
The regional office in its present, reunited form, namely Africa, Europe, Middle East, came into being in 1994 in Geneva, with a branch office in Stockholm.
At that time, we started with only seven staff members: five in Geneva and two in Stockholm. Today, more than ten years later, there are over 35 staff members divided into six units, one unit each for the Diploma Programme (DP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), Primary Years Programme (PYP), Profesionnal development, finance and administration. The Stockholm office was closed the end of June 2006.
