Diploma Programme

There are 673 schools in Africa, Europe and the Middle East inĀ  82 countries.

If your school is interested in introducing the Diploma Programme

Then, if your school wishes to continue its exploration of the DP it should conduct a “feasibility study”. The purpose of this study is to enable a school to make an informed decision about whether or not it will proceed to DP candidate, and subsequently become an IB World School. For more details, please consult the IBAEM Guide to DP Authorization.

During any stage, the school may also request the regional office to organize a consultation visit.

You are welcome to contact the regional office should you have any further queries or require other information.

Applying for Diploma Programme candidate status

Schools planning to begin implementation of the DP in September of any given year should submit Application Form Part A and the supporting documentation between 15 August and 1 October or 15 February and 1 May of the previous year. Please consult first with the regional office if your school year begins in January and you intend to offer examination sessions annually in November.

If your school is already a Diploma Programme candidate school

The authorization visit documentation (Application Form Part B and the supporting documents) should be submitted two months before the confirmed dates for the authorization visit.

For full details of the whole application process, please consult the IBAEM Guide to DP Authorization.

If your school is already a Diploma Programme IB World School

You must submit a CAS Programme Questionnaire after the end of the first term of the first year of the programme (see the Handbook of Procedures for the Diploma Programme for more details).

Your school will be asked periodically by the regional office to submit documentation for the further monitoring of your CAS programme.

The regional office carries out unannounced inspection visits to a percentage of schools each examination session.

The regional office will contact schools one year in advance of the five-year programme evaluation. If you have any queries about your school’s programme evaluation dates, please contact ibaem@ibo.org. The Guide to Programme Evaluation and the Self-Study Questionnaire are available on IBNET.
