New workshop on Diploma Programme self-study
The “Overview of IB Latin America professional development activities” for 2009 includes very interesting news for IB World Schools as regards deepening workshops, in addition to the traditional offer for both beginner and experienced teachers. These workshops give participants the chance to deepen their understanding of the principles, regulations and practices of the programme.
One of these workshops, called The IB standards and practices and the Diploma Programme evaluation process, is specially aimed at those IB World Schools which are going through or which are close to start the five-year self-study of their IB programme implementation, and at any school interested in improving its practices in accordance with IB standards.
The aim of this workshop is to offer tools —to Diploma Programme's school heads and coordinators— in order to carry out a self-study process which may contribute to consolidate programme implementation at school. After the workshop, participants are expected to understand the rules for the Diploma Programme implementation and to identify those practices which lead to their achievement, besides planning an efficient process in which implementation level of these applications is checked.
In the proposal for January 2009 (in Monterrey and San Jose), in addition to the workshop on Diploma Programme self-study, there will be other deepening workshops such as “Extended Essay in Group 4”, “Extended Essay in Group 3” and “Extended Essay in Group 4.”
