Level 1 PYP Workshop in Ottawa, ON (IB Americas)

Level 1:  Application & authorization workshop is a three-day workshop that provides training and assistance for schools that have decided to apply for IB authorization.  For PYP, Level 1 covers Part B of the application process.

Location and Accommodation

The workshop will take place at The Westin Ottawa Hotel.  IB Americas has arranged for special room rates for the workshop. When you make your hotel reservation, please indicate you are with IB Americas to receive the special rate.  Rates are quoted in Canadian dollars and are exclusive of all taxes.

Single/Double Rate 

CAD $129.00 Non-Refundable Rate:
Full prepayment at the time you reserve the room. Non-Refundable and Non-Changeable. Checks* and major credit cards are acceptable for payment. All credit cards will be charged immediately.


CAD $149.00: Traditional Rate:
First nights’ deposit required. Refundable up to 72 hours in advance of your workshop date. Name changes are permitted. Cancellation up to 72 hours before arrival to avoid cancellation penalties (first nights deposit). Checks* and major credit cards are acceptable to establish prepayment. All credit cards used to prepay will be charged immediately

*Checks must be received by the hotel at least 14 days prior to their date of arrival and must include room and tax for the total amount of hotel stay.

Additional Person CDN $20.00 per person, per night
Early Departure Fee   50% of the room rate

 

Workshop Schedule Outline

Workshop check-in for participants will start at 3.00pm on Thursday, 3 December 2009. The level 1 workshop begins with a general session on Thursday, 3 December at 5.00pm and concludes on Sunday, 6 December at 12.00pm.  The level 2 and 3 workshop begins on Friday, 4 December at 8.30am and concludes on Sunday, 6 December at 12.00pm. IB Americas will provide a continental breakfast, a beverage break, and a boxed lunch on Friday, 4 December 2009 and Saturday, 5 December 2009.  IB Americas will provide a continental breakfast and a beverage break on Sunday, 6 December 2009.  Please be aware that dinner is not included in the conference registration fee and will not be provided on any of the workshop dates. .

 

International Travel

All non-citizens must present proof of citizenship to enter the United States or Canada.  An acceptable form of identification is a valid passport.

 

Ground Transportation 

The hotel is located approximately 35 minutes from Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW).  YOW Airporter offers shared van shuttle service and the fare is approximately CDN $14.00 one-way or CDN $20.00 round trip. The shuttle departs from airport every half hour, 5 and 35 minutes after the hour.  For reservations, please call (613) 260-2359 or access http://www.yowshuttle.com/.  Taxicabs are also available and the fare is approximately CDN $30.00.  Rates subject to change.

 

Parking

The hotel offers self-parking for approximately CDN $20.00 per car, per day plus applicable taxes without in and out privileges. Valet parking is approximately CDN $32.00 per car, per day plus applicable taxes with in and out privileges.  Rates subject to change.

Please remember that meeting room temperatures and personal comfort zones vary widely. It is recommended that you bring a sweater or jacket to all sessions.
