Level 3: Topical Seminar is a three-day seminar covering a topic or several topics of interest. The relevancy of teaching experience and/or knowledge of the IB will vary from seminar to seminar and programme to programme, depending on the topic on offer.
The goal of this workshop is to explore the meaning of cultural awareness and its practical application in the French B programme. Discussions will treat the issues of what we mean by cultural awareness, how we integrate it into the classroom, and the part it plays in current examinations, among others. The approach will be consultative as well as collaborative and experienced teachers are encouraged to bring with them relevant classroom materials, activities and resources to share.

The workshop will take place at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel. IB Americas has arranged for special room rates for the workshop. Workshop Schedule Outline
Workshop check-in for participants will start at 3.00pm on Thursday, 17 September 2009. The level 1 workshop begins with a general session on Thursday, 17 September at 5.00pm and concludes on Sunday, 20 September at 12.00pm. The level 2 and 3 workshop begins on Friday, 17 September at 8.30am and concludes on Sunday, 20 September at 12.00pm. IB Americas will provide a continental breakfast, a beverage break, and a boxed lunch on Friday, 18 September 2009 and Saturday, 19 September 2009. IB Americas will provide a continental breakfast and a beverage break on Sunday, 20 September 2009. Please be aware that dinner is not included in the conference registration fee and will not be provided on any of the workshop dates.
International Travel
All non-citizens must present proof of citizenship to enter the United States or Canada. An acceptable form of identification is a valid passport.
Ground Transportation
The hotel is located approximately 20 minutes from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). Airport Shuttle offers shared van shuttle service and the fare is approximately USD $15.00 one-way or USD $30.00 round trip. The shuttle service ticket counter is located at the ground level baggage claim area. For reservations, please call (504) 522-3500. Taxicabs are also available and the fare is approximately USD $29.00. Rates subject to change.
Parking
