The purpose of this workshop is to help school boards and/or owners to understand the importance of their role in the development of an IB World School. Central to this development is the establishment of a strong working relationship between the board chair/school owner and the head of school. An IB World School’s authorization status depends on, among other things, its ability to demonstrate that it “has developed a governance and leadership structure that supports the implementation of the programme(s)”. This workshop will look at various models of school governance and discuss their effectiveness in IB programme implementation, and will focus on the need to establish clear lines of authority at both the strategic and operational level.
