Resources for Universities and Applicants in the US and Canada

Recognition Policy Summaries

As part of the college search process, IB students and their parents seek universities that recognize the rigor of the IB. As the number of colleges and universities actively recruiting IB Diploma students grows, it is important for universities to make their IB policies available for review. In the past, this information was in a bound book format. Currently, policy statements for many universities in both the United States and Canada are online.

Policies for some universities have been summarized in policy summary charts available in PDF format below.  These are updated annually.  The policy summary definitions document explains what each column in the chart represents.

Policy Summary Charts:

If your university would like to update the policy as it appears in one of the charts above, please download the policy summary update form (106 kb) and return the completed form by email to IB Vancouver as indicated.

These summaries are only intended to present a general overview of IB recognition policies. The information provided reflects responses to a questionnaire sent to universities and verified with those responsible. It is accurate as of the date noted above.
