La Conférence des Recteurs des universités Suisses (CRUS) has announced the following conditions for students holding an IB Diploma.
The universities of Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne, Luzern Neuchâtel and St. Gallen all accept IB Diploma holders provided that students have a minimum of 32 points out of 42 (points for Theory of Knowledge and Extended essay are not considered). In addition students must have the specified subject combinations as shown in the table below. New for 2008/2009 is that either mathematics or a natural sciences subject must be at HL.
General subject areas
Group 1 : Mother tongue
Group 2 : Second language
Group 3: Mathematics
Group 4: Natural sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics
Group 5: Social sciences: Geography, History or Economics
Group 6: Elective (one subject from Groups 2, 4 or 5 above)*
For the Diploma student this will have the following implications
*Please note that some universities do not apply this strictly but will accept subjects in group 6 which are not mentioned in the table.
