Irene Davy

Irene Davy

Irene is currently the director and principal of Sunnybrook School, Ontario, Canada. She joined the school in 1982. The school has been an IB World School offering the PYP since March 2002 and currently has 140 students from kindergarten through to year 6. As principal, Irene’s role includes responsibility for recruitment, parent relations, curriculum development, teacher training, human resources and financial management.

In 2005 Irene joined the IB North America regional heads representative committee (RHRC) and chaired the committee during 2007. She also currently sits on the IB North America board, and is a member of the international heads representative committee (IHRC). She was previously a member of the IB North America committee on access and chair of the Canada task force.

Irene is an enthusiastic supporter of the IB’s mission. She has attended IB workshops worldwide, and has participated in teacher training initiatives and curriculum planning and development across the global IB community. She has carried out many school visits and has advised on in-school training for teachers in IB World Schools. She has made presentations to the IB North America regional conference on a range of topics, including internationalism, world mindfulness in the curriculum, and future orientation in global education.

Irene has a doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Vienna, Austria. She speaks English and German.
