4000th IB programme
The IB has recently reached a historic milestone of 4000 IB programmes worldwide.
Founded in 1968, the IB currently works with over 3,200 schools in 141 countries to develop and offer three challenging programmes to over 950,000 students aged 3 to 19 years.
The IB has witnessed considerable growth over the years. In 1995 there were only 569 programmes world-wide, in 2000 this had grown to 1159 and in 2005 there were 2055 IB programmes. This figure now stands at a staggering 4000 and we are proud to be celebrating the 4000th IB programme with Taihu International School, in the Asia Pacific region.
Taihu International School is the only IB World School in Wuxi with all three IB programmes. Head of School, Simon Saunders, says “this is a remarkable achievement for such a small school to gain authorization for (the) Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme in only five years. IB recognition has been a vital part in the school’s long term strategic plan to offer a truly international curriculum to its students that provides young learners with the skills and attitudes they need to be a part of today’s fast changing multinational society.”
