IB appoints Susan Saxton as Chief Officer of Education Innovation Services
The Hague, The Netherlands, IB, February 13, 2012 -- The IB announces today the appointment of Susan Saxton as Chief Officer, Education Innovation Services.
The Education Innovation Services division (EIS) was created at the IB in 2011. Its primary aims are to promote the IB as a leader in international education and to broaden access through facilitating the development and marketing of new high-profile, innovative educational products and services from concept through until launch.
Susan is currently the Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice-President at Laureate Education, Inc, a Baltimore-based organization which operates institutions across the globe with a mission to “Expand access to quality higher education to make the world a better place”. During her tenure at Laureate, Susan has held several roles, among them, the Chief Academic Officer, as well as Dean of Walden University's College of Education leading product strategy and development, regulatory and institutional oversight, technology and innovation, and research and development. Most recently, she has been spending time with ministries of education and Laureate's international campuses to support quality, innovation, and growth. Prior to working for Laureate, Susan was the Dean of Students and Senior Vice-President at Kaplan University leading their strategy and product development divisions. She has also held a number of Dean, Chair, and programme development roles at Capella and Lynn Universities. Early in her career she was also an instructor for the University of Maryland's campuses in Germany, and taught elementary education to children of military families on overseas assignments.
Susan is also currently working on a third PhD in Law, and has two PhDs from Capella University (Human Services & Psychology, and Organization & Management), a Master of Laws in International Business from the University of Liverpool, as well as degrees from Boston University and Wellesley College.

My husband and I are looking forward to re-locating to The Hague and being part of the IB community.”
Of the appointment, Director General Jeffery Beard stated “Susan brings strong educational product- and programme-development skills to the IB. Much of her career has focused on expanding access to higher education around the world which is also a key strategic goal for the IB. She has been able to facilitate an organizational culture of learning and innovation in education; has experience bringing educational products and services to market and working with not-for-profit organizations. I’m delighted that Susan will be bringing both her exceptional skill set and passion for access to the IB”.
